Union Depot

This historic gem is one of the most underutilized major rail stations in North America, seeing but one train per day on Amtrak's long-distance Empire Builder. The Great River, opening later this year, will add an extra daily train to Chicago.

Regional lines to Mankato, Owatonna, and Rochester would likely originate here, as would future intercity service to Eau Claire and Sioux City. These lines would offer an opportunity to connect Valley Fair, MSP airport, and several small cities to our heavy rail network.
