Minneapolis Target Field, home of the Twins, is the downtown terminus of the only
commuter rail line in the Twin Cities. As of now, the station is not served by Amtrak, but this will change when the
Northern Lights Express begins operation in a few years.
As our rail network looks to expand, Target Field is well-positioned to anchor intercity routes to Des Moines, Sioux Falls, and possibly even Winnipeg. The Northstar can be
extended to St. Cloud (with improved scheduling), regional lines like the
Dan Patch would serve the south metro, and future routes could expand to the west.
"The station is the 'Grand Central' of the Twins Cities, designed to inspire a civic identity and community pride in its mix of uses, central location, iconic, and purposeful design."mlb.com
